Aelia Capitolina thus continued
as a Roman town and the base
of the Tenth Roman legion,
until the 3rd century CE. To
this day the walled city bears
the symmetrical shape typical
of a Roman colony. As today, a
major road, called the Cardo,
ran north-south, and another
ran perpendicularly on the
east-west axis.
